About Trichy
The historical city of Tiruchirappalli, popularly known as Trichy, is situated on the banks of the Kaveri River (also Cauvery) in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located at a distance of 320 km from Chennai (previously known as Madras) and 150 km from Madurai (the temple city), this Chola Dynasty citadel, noted for its profound wisdom of the Sangam Age, still wears the age-old glory around it. Ranganathaswamy Temple
Ranganathaswamy Temple, A little away from Trichy, this is one of the major tourist attractions in Trichy. Sprawling over a huge 600acres, it is arguably the largest temple in India. The Pandyas, the Cholas and the Hoysalas laid their hands in building of this temple between the 14th and the 17th centuries.

Viralimalai Sanctuary
A small town near Tiruchirappalli, it known for the impressive Murugan temple and enchanting Peacock Sanctuary, where one can see a great number of wild peacocks roaming around. If you are lucky, you may also see them dancing.

Rock Fort Temple
The Rock Fort temple complex in Tiruchirappalli is a collection of three temples - the Manikka Vinayakar temple at the foot of the hill, the Uchhi Pillayar Koyil at the top of the hill and the Taayumaanavar Koyil (Shivastalam) on the hill.

Government Museum
40 km from Trichy, the museum is located near the Pudukkottai station and houses rare and attractive collections of objects related to Geology, Zoology, Paintings, Anthropology, Epigraphy and Historical Records. However, it remains closed on Mondays.
