BHIMESHWARI |
The
bright blue waters of Cauvery wind through rocks and ravines
and fall off the Deccan Plateau to form the twin falls of Barachukki
and Gaganachukki. About 35 kms downstream is yet a different
set of falls called Mekedatu (Goat's Leap). Lying between these
wonderful cascades is Bhimeshwari.

The
sanctuary takes its name from the eponymous river, its lifeline.
Popularly known as Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka,
after the village on its margin, it is a great place to sight
the ferocious tiger, monitor the Indian bison, hear the strange
calls of the stripy hyena and see the rare flying lizard glide
amidst the huge trees.

BHADRA WILDLIFE SANCTURY |
The Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary in the Chickmagalur and Shimoga
District, is one of the best sanctuaries in Karnataka. It is home to
animals like the great Indian Gaur, Barking Deer, Flying fox,
Mongoose, Elephant, Panther, Macaque, Babbler, Barbet, Bluejay,
Kingfisher, Robin, weaver bird and Drongo.

Biligiri Rangana Hills are ideal retreat for all nature lovers.
Primarily famous for the ancient temples balanced atop the high
hills, the B.R. Hills is also the proud owner of a small wildlife
sanctuary.

BANDIPUR |
The Bandipur National Park is one of the most excellent wild-life
centers. Established in 1931, by the Mysore Maharajhas, this park is
snuggled in the foothills of the Nilgiris. This park was chosen for
the Project Tiger and since then the Tiger population has increased.
Apart from the Tiger one can also find Peafowl, Partridges, Quail,
Hornbill, giant Squirrel, Dhole ( wild dog), elephants, Sambar and
Barking Deer. Exotic trees like Teak, Rosewood, Honne, Mathi, Bamboo
and Sandal are found here.

NAGARHOLE NATIONAL PARK |
Nagarhole

park in Karnataka has an surprising abundance of wildlife including
large mammals such as tiger, leopard, wild elephant, dhole
(Indian wild dog), and gaur (Indian bison). Other kind present
are chital spotted deer, muntjac (barking deer), mouse deer,
four-horned antelope, wild boar, sloth bear, hyena, mongoose,
civet, otter, and more. The setting is one of gentle slopes
and shallow valleys.
